Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund is a book about the heart of Christ toward sinners and sufferers. Instead of focusing on what Jesus asks from us, it highlights who He is at His core—gentle and lowly in heart (from Matthew 11:28–30). Ortlund shows, using Scripture and voices from church history, that Jesus is not distant or harsh but welcoming, patient, and tender toward the weary, broken, and guilty.
It’s not a book about how to “fix yourself,” but about how Christ draws near to those who can’t fix themselves. The message is simple but deep: God delights to show mercy, and His love runs deeper than our sin.
Such a great book! Loved it!
