Welcome friend,
I’m Mark, and this space is for the wanderers, the worn out, and the ones still wrestling with God at 2 a.m. I don’t have all the answers, but I know the One who does—and I’m learning to trust Him more.

Most of us have heard the words, “the valley of the shadow of death.” It sounds dark and serious—like something out of a movie. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”
But what if this valley is more than just a hard time in life? What if it’s a real place where souls go after death? What if some don’t leave—and that’s why people see ghosts?
Let’s dig into it. The veil. The Jordan. The door. The bridge. The way.
Is This Valley a Real Place?
The Bible talks about places we can’t see—Heaven, Hell, and a place called Sheol. It also talks about shadows, darkness, and a veil. That veil is like a curtain between our world and the spiritual world.
When Jesus died, something amazing happened: “The veil of the temple was torn in two” (Matthew 27:51). That meant we could now come close to God through Jesus. The door was opened.
But what about people who never came to Jesus? What happens to them?
Why Do People See Ghosts?
People say they’ve seen shadows in their house. Or they hear strange voices. Or feel like someone is watching them.
The Bible warns us not to talk to spirits (Deuteronomy 18:10–12), but there’s a strange story where Saul talks to the ghost of Samuel (1 Samuel 28). And it really was Samuel.
So maybe some of those ghosts are real. Maybe they’re souls stuck in the valley, waiting—but never crossing over.
Crossing the Jordan
In the Bible, the Jordan River is like a picture of moving from this life to the next. When the Israelites crossed it, they entered the Promised Land. Elijah crossed it before going to Heaven.
Some people think dying is like crossing that river. And Jesus is the One who helps us cross safely.
But not everyone crosses. Why? Because they don’t know the Way.
The Door, the Bridge, and the Way
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). He also said, “I am the door” (John 10:9).
He’s not just talking in stories. He means it. Jesus is the only way out of the valley. Not being a good person. Not going to church. Only knowing Him.
Think about this: what if some souls are stuck in the shadows, reaching for a door they never opened while they were alive?
The Good News
You don’t have to stay in the valley. Jesus is the Light in the darkness. Psalm 23:4 says we don’t have to be afraid in the valley “because You are with me.”
That’s what makes the difference. His presence. Jesus is the Way out. He’s the Door, the Bridge, and the Savior.
Call to Repentance
If you’ve been trying to earn your way into heaven, it’s time to stop striving and start surrendering. Today can be the day everything changes. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Don’t wait for a better moment. Turn from your sin, believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, and receive the gift of eternal life. He is calling—respond to Him today.
